CLEARLAKE The Clearlake City Council approved a licensing agreement with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lake County for lease of the Hot Spot, the city s youth facility on Golf Avenue. The decision was rendered during the council s regular meeting on Thursday, April 13.
The agreement provides for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lake County s occupation of the building for a period of three years with an option to extend the contract for an additional three years.
The agreement further authorizes the city administrator to make necessary improvements to meet minimum building standards in an amount not to exceed $7,200 as well as issue no-cost permits to selected contractors for the completion of the project.
According to the staff report presented to the council, there will be no impacts to the General Fund as there is $7,202 remaining in the Youth Activity Center grant previously acquired by the city. Cost for improvements for which the city is responsible will be paid for with the remaining grant funds.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lake County will lease the building according to the agreement at a rate of $1 per year and will assume the responsibility and the cost for any other improvements.
The agreement was amended with a provision releasing the city from any obligation concerning the relocation of the youth organization should the building be sold at any time during the lease contract.
