Carolyn Kuns passed away on April 19, 2006, at her home on Lakeshore Boulevard in Lakeport at the age of 87. She was born Oct. 20, 1918, at the family ranch in Scotts Valley where sons Venn and Pat still reside. Surviving her are sons, Venn (Nannette) Marschall and Patrick Marschall of Lakeport and Donn (Donna) Marschall of Kelseyville; stepdaughters, Virginia (Ron) Sneed and Judy (Ron) Wood of Lakeport and Dorothy (Tom) Keene of Sterling, Alaska. Also surviving her are brothers-in-law, Ray (Jane) Marschall of Kelseyville and Bill Robison of Lakeport and sister-in-law, Ann (Bob) McNeill of Napa, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband, Dave Kuns and grandchildren, Rhonda Wood and Dwane Marschall and sister, Sherry Robison, all of Lakeport.
Her father, Carroll E. Spielman, was born in Kelseyville and her mother, Lenora Little Spielman was born in Lakeport so her Lake County roots were deep. She was Granma to 19; Great Granma or Gigi to 37 and even great, great-Granma to one.
She found joy in many things in life; loved making cookies for the grandkids; her Tuesday lunches with her girlfriends; watching the birds at the feeders and birdhouses outside her windows; watching sports on TV including NASCAR races and any kind of ballgame; wearing purple; her cascading yellow rosebushes; her kitty Missy; her trips to Alaska and RV trips into Mexico; and sending birthday cards to family and friends.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Perk s Mobilehome Park Clubhouse at 4265 Lakeshore Blvd., Lakeport, on Sunday, April 30 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers you honor her life with a donation to the Lakeport Senior Center, Meals-On-Wheels Program, 527 Konocti Ave., Lakeport, CA 95453, or Hospice of Lake County at 1717 So. Main St., Lakeport, CA 95453. A special thanks to both of those programs for their loving and compassionate care and especially driver Bob Benson, who delivered her meals for several years, and to nurse Kathy Wickard and aide Theresa Espinosa, who helped the family with her care at her home. Thanks also to Dr. Madej and Dr. Minotti for their loving care. A big hug and special thanks also goes to Nancy McGlinchy, who cared for our Mom these past several years.
She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
