WINDSOR — With one Coastal Mountain Conference South match to go, the Kelseyville High School golf team is sitting pretty after winning on Wednesday at Windsor Golf Club.
Kelseyville finished with 445 strokes, beating out St. Vincent (453), St. Helena (481), Middletown (488), Calistoga (504), Tomales (507) and Rincon Valley Christian, which was incomplete (fewer than five golfers).
The victory moved the Indians into sole possession of first place atop the CMC South standings at 17-1. Middletown is next at 14-4, St. Vincent is third at 12-6 and St. Helena is fourth at 11-7. Following Tuesday s regular-season finale at Oakmont in Santa Rosa, the top two teams advance to the playoffs.
Kelseyville has pretty much for sure clinched a playoff spot, Kelseyville coach John Berry said. As long as I can get the van there (to Oakmont), we should be OK.
St. Helena s Peter Larson fired the day s low round, an 82 on the par-72 Windsor course, but close behind were Kelseyville s Andrew Felperin at 83 and Rincon Valley s Ty Cazet at 83. Kelseyville s Nick Schaefer, Calistoga s Raymond Fechter and St. Vincent s Derek Brown all finished with 85.
Low for Middletown was Adam Bussdieker at 93 and Mitch D Amico at 94.
Felperin and Schaefer had the only birdies for the Lake County contingent.

Softball
Cloverdale 10, Upper Lake 0
At Cloverdale, one day after losing a dramatic 4-3 contest to Clear Lake at Lakeport, it was business as usual for Cloverdale pitcher Vanessa Fitzgerald and the Eagles, who beat the Cougars in a North Central League I South game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Fitzgerald faced just 16 batters one over the minimum while striking out 10. The only baserunner for the Cougars (0-2 South, 7-4 overall) was Crystal Snyder, who also had the Cougars only hit a single past the Cloverdale third baseman and into left field in the top of the third.
It s the first time our girls have seen a pitcher like that, Upper Lake coach Ryan Kinser said. We put some good swings on the ball, but it s tough to hit against her (Fitzgerald). She throws four or five pitches and we haven t faced a pitcher like that.
The Cougars figure to see more of the same in Clear Lake s Brittany Rumfelt and St. Vincent s Shawna Hettrich, according to Kinser.
Losing pitcher Courtney Gatton allowed eight hits, six earned runs, struck out two and walked two.
Montgomery 4, Middletown 2
At Santa Rosa, Montgomery High School beat Middletown in a non-league pitcher s duel.
The Mustangs (5-4) were held to a single hit, a two-run home run by Julia Leathers in the top of the third inning that tied the game at 2-2. Nikki Clem, who reached on an error, scored on Leathers second home run of the season.
Our errors were the difference, Middletown coach Lisa Rogers said of the Mustangs seven miscues in the field.
Montgomery went ahead to stay with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Losing pitcher Nicole Scott struck out seven and walked one.
Baseball
Cloverdale 8, Upper Lake 7
At Cloverdale, the Cloverdale Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings and then beat the Upper Lake Cougars with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, that after Upper Lake had taken a 7-6 lead with a run in the top of the ninth.
We had em, Upper Lake coach Joe Ogulin said of the NCL I South loss.
Jacob Widener reached on a two-out triple in the top of the ninth and scored when Kieron McCarthy reached on an error to give the Cougars their final lead at 7-6.
Roy McCutcheon went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Cougars (0-2 South, 2-9 overall) and Joe Barnes also went 2-for-5.
St. Vincent 10, Clear Lake 4
At Lakeport, St. Vincent beat Clear Lake in a 5 ?-inning game that was forfeited to the visiting Mustangs after Brian Figg, the only coach on the Clear Lake bench, was ejected in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Figg was upset about a play that occurred in the bottom of the fifth when batter Freddy Olloqui was charged with two outs in one at-bat. He played the game under protest from then on, exchanged words with an umpire in the bottom of the sixth and was ejected at that point.
James Robinson went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Clear Lake, now 0-3 in the South standings.
Brian Milhaupt and Ricky Wood also drove in runs for the Cardinals.
