LAKEPORT — It only took until Wednesday, the third of May, for Lake County to host its first track meet of the rain delayed 2006 high school springs sports season.
But at Clear Lake High School, with the sun shining and the temperature warm but not too hot, teams from Fort Bragg, St. Vincent and Upper Lake joined the host Cardinals for a Coastal Mountain Conference meet.
In the varsity boys? division, Fort Bragg beat Clear Lake 95-49 and Clear Lake defeated St. Vincent 83-29 and Upper Lake 86-12.
Event winners for Clear Lake were John Hulsey in the 400 meters (57.65 seconds), Jorel Allegro in the shotput (40 feet, 6 ? inches) and Kory Hook, who tied a Fort Bragg athlete at 5-6.
Brandon White of Clear Lake added second-place finishes in the 110 high and 300 intermediate hurdles with times of 16.4 and 43.4, respectively, and he also took second in the long jump (18-0). Augie Perez of Clear Lake was second in the discus (98-8) and third in the shotput. Hulsey also pickedup a second, that in the 200 (25.5).
In the varsity girls? division, Fort Bragg beat Clear Lake 89-50 and Clear Lake defeated both St. Vincent 78-21 and Upper Lake 58-47.
Upper Lake?s Raquel Wells and Kim Bouillerce won two events apiece. Wells captured the 200 in 30-1 and the long jump in 14-9, while Bouillerce won the high jump (5-0) and triple jump (29-4).
Clear Lake?s 4×400 relay team of Gena Seago, Sarah Jensen, Holly Nichols and Ashton Wright also came in first (5 minutes, 15 seconds).
Nichols added seconds in the 400 (1:14) and 800 (3:00).
In frosh-soph competition, Fort Bragg beat Clear Lake 67-47 and Clear Lake defeated St. Vincent 54-46 and Upper Lake 62-18.
Double-event winner Armando Martinez of Clear Lake ? first in the 100 (12.13) and long jump (17-0) ? also ran a leg on the Cardinals? winning 4×100 relay team (50.9), which included Andy Weiss, Jesse Salmeron and Tyler Glazier.
Other Clear Lake firsts went to Glazier in the 400 (59.9), Weiss in the pole vault (8-3) and Daniel Gildea in the shotput (40-0).
Clear Lake will host the Lake County Meet next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
