CLEARLAKE ? A former Lake County resident is due in court today after pleading guilty to a felony charge of sex with a minor.

Jeannette Ann Romo is scheduled to return to court where she may be taken into custody to serve jail time if sentenced, or ordered to begin an evaluation by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) if she is given probation.

It?s also possible that the defense may ask for another continuance.

Romo, who accepted a plea bargain offered to her on March 16, has pleaded guilty to one of the 11 counts of felony sexual acts with a minor ? with both boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 18. She was scheduled to be sentenced on April 21, but that appearance was continued to today.

The Lake County Probation Department has completed their evaluation and given a report to Judge Stephen Hedstrom. If Hedstrom finds that probation is an option, then Romo will be taken into custody to undergo a CDCR evaluation.

?Typically, the judge would have the evaluation done,? said Deputy District Attorney Susan Krones, because the judge wants to have as much information as possible.

If Romo undergoes the evaluation, it can take up to 90 days. Once the evaluation is completed, she would be released ? as she is out on $5,000 bond ? and given a new sentencing date.

?She?s already waived time for sentencing,? Krones said, ?so it could conceivably not be until July? before she is sentenced.

Romo is scheduled to appear in Department 4 in Clearlake at 1:30 p.m.
