LAKEPORT — Brittany Rumfelt?s tape-measure three-run home run to straightaway center field in the top of the second inning propelled the Clear Lake Cardinals past the St. Helena Saints 11-1 in a North Central League I South softball game on Friday in St. Helena.

?It was a blast … it was 30 feet over the fence in center field, a no-doubter,? Clear Lake coach Gary Pickle said. ?That was one of the longest I?ve ever seen.?

Rumfelt?s third home run of the season was one of her four hits on the day. She also doubled and singled twice while driving in a total of four runs. On the mound, the junior tossed a three-hitter, striking out nine and walking none.

?As a team we played well today, I was really pleased,? Pickle said. ?We were more patient at the plate … the first time we played them we were overanxious.?

Clear Lake?s patience paid off to the tune of 11 walks that supplemented the Cardinals? nine hits. Three players accounted for all of those hits ? Rumfelt was 4-for-4, Emilee Meier was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, and Haley Sanderson went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs.

Clear Lake scored three times in the first inning and four times in the second to open up a 7-1 lead.

The NCL I South leaders are 5-0 in league and 10-1 overall.
