KELSEYVILLE ? Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa is hosting Boardstock XI from Thursday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 20.
A buffet luncheon held Friday, May 5 served as an official kick-off for publicizing the four-day event, which showcases live music and extreme sports.
The first appearance of BoardStock at Konocti, in August 2005, drew more than 30,000 guests. This year, organizers expect to host 50,000 attendees.
BoardStock founder Rob Stimmel started the event as a birthday party for his wife. The first BoardStock took place in 1995 on Shasta Lake and in 1999 it switched to Stockton on the Delta.
Competitions and exhibitions are scheduled on land, in the lake and in the air. World-class athletes will be seen at this multi-sport event, which includes the WWA Wakeboard World Series Championships, the World Wake Surf Championships, freestyle pro motocross, extreme streetbike jumpers and hardcore skydiving. Attendees can watch water-based action from viewing bleachers or tie their boats to a 1,500-foot tie line that will run the length of the course.
Live music will be a key part of BoardStock XI, with bands playing on multiple stages throughout the day. Among musicians who are scheduled to perform during BoardStock XI, Kid Rock will take the stage for an outdoor concert on Friday evening, Aug. 18 in the Konocti Field Amphitheatre.
