LAKEPORT ? Terrace Middle School in Lakeport has received numerous calls from concerned residents who have been asked for cash-only donations from youth to help raise funds for a trip to Marine World USA in Vallejo.
Principal Jill Falconer said it”s a scam. “We would never send kids door to door asking for cash,” Falconer said.
Residents became more suspicious when the youth handed them a letter explaining that they couldn”t accept checks due to a lawsuit and the letter itself contained numerous misspellings.
One resident even came in and looked through the school yearbook to see if they could identify the students ? but none looked familiar.
“They may not even be our students,” Falconer said.
The Lakeport police have been notified and Falconer asks that if anyone asks you for a cash donation to support a school activity, to please call the police, 263-5491.
