Thank you for your story “Board votes for salmon” in the May 6 edition of the Record-Bee. However it has left me with questions. I remember reading in the past where our Board of Supervisors censored folks from speaking during the public input of their sessions because they would come from out of county to discuss things the BOS felt it had no control or jurisdiction over. Your article states “In an unusual move ? because it doesn”t directly affect Lake County …” Has the BOS now changed its position about public input?
I am not sure I could put into words, at least not ones that you could print, how I feel about a majority of supervisors (Robey, Farrington and Lewis) voting to assist out-of-county fish when they did absolutely nothing as a board to assist the community of Lucerne, which is facing potentially an almost 300-percent raise in water rates.
Is it because we lack gills or large bank accounts? At least Supervisor Brown held a consistent position. Supervisor Smith demurred, citing his absentee landlord status regarding property on the Klamath. Hey ? there”s the answer, my fellow citizens of Lucerne. Just go to your out-of-county or state second home if water becomes too spendy here.
