The members of Lucerne Community Water Organization (LCWO), and Lucerne Friends of Locally Owned Water (FLOW), held a bake sale April 14-15. This fundraising event was held as part of a campaign to generate revenues that will ultimately be used to obtain ownership and control of our Lucerne water system, which will result in an independent water district.

LCWO/FLOW”s goal is to provide high quality, low cost water. The whole concept of organization can be summed up in our Motto:? “Water for LIFE, not for PROFIT.”

Members will be running many separate events in the future for your entertainment, as well as for the cause of obtaining funds for the campaign. Members hope you all can join in our fight, to beat out the corporate drive to turn California water supplies into the next huge gold rush. This greed is not in keeping with the needs of our small community, nor the spirit of life in California.

We want to thank Kenny Parlet, owner of Lakeview Market in Lucerne, Tracy Kirk, manager at Sentry Market in Nice and the Alpine Senior Center in Lucerne for their generous donation of the space to hold our bake sale.

And also a big thank you to Steve Merchen, Realtor for his generous cash donation.

Thank you to the? citizens of Lucerne, Nice, Upper Lake, Lakeport, Kelseyville, Davis and Fort Bragg for their support.

Also thanks goes to our FLOW and LCWO members for all their work and baked goods donations for the success of our bake sale and baskets.

The winners of our drawing for the baskets were Lee Huston and Sherry Medeiro.

We appreciate your support.

Doug Reams, Virginia Diploudis
