The Kelseyville High School Jazz Band traveled to the Reno International Jazz Festival on April 27-29. The group spent two nights in Reno attending and performing at the festival.
The event is the largest of its kind on the West Coast involving over 300 junior high, high school and college groups.
Senior Rina Ferrario and sophomore Hamed Hokamzadeh were given Outstanding Musicianship Awards by the judges for their performances. These awards are given to recognize outstanding soloists in each group at the festival. Both Rina and Hamed have won similar awards at other festivals this year.
The group wishes to thank the parents who drove them to the event as well as DJ”s Pizza, the Lake County Wine Alliance and the Kelseyville Lioness Club, who helped to make the trip financially possible.
