Regarding Robert Derenthal”s letter of May 9 (“Joining up with the Steves,” Your Opinion), the ad populam fallacy proves nothing. If all Germans agreed that Adolf Hitler should rule the world, that does not make it so. If all Japanese agreed that Hirohito is the Sun God, that does not equate with truth. There are hundreds of Ph.D.s who agree with Darrell Watkins. And well they should, for the facts are on their side.

Either our vast and infinitely complex universe was created ex nihilo by a living, intelligent, moral and loving God, or all that exists is a chance collocation of subatomic particles.

From these particles, in some inexplicable manner, accidentally emerged our vast and infinitely complicated universe, including life from the nonliving; love from (neutrons?); intelligence from the unintelligent; and morals from the amoral. Every effect has a cause and the effect cannot have a quality not found in the cause.

Life comes from life. Intelligence from intelligence. Morals from the moral, Love from One Who Loves. No one denies that species adapt to their milieus. Adaptation is not atheistic or unscriptural evolution. Theistic evolutionists give the lie to scripture. If the heads of some organizations denominating themselves as “Christian” want to call God a liar, they need to be ready to answer for it when He judges them at the end of this world.
