I recently found out that bike lanes have been included in the proposed Lake County General Plan update. The goal is to have bike lanes completely around the lake, and into Big Valley, Scotts Valley, Middletown and Cobb areas.
I think this is an excellent idea!
As the population of both residents and tourists increases, bike lanes will become necessary for safety of both cyclist and motorist. Additionally, this will be a proactive means of reducing highway congestion and air pollution. Biking is a healthy activity for everyone of all ages, and is another fun way of exploring our beautiful county without damaging it.
To show support for the proposed bike lanes, I have placed petitions in various stores and office locations around Lake County. One can also sign online by going to www.redwood.sierraclub.org/lake.
Or you can call your district supervisor. Please let our Board of Supervisors know we want these lanes installed!
