LAKEPORT — Trailing 4-1 early, the McDonald”s Braves rallied to notch their fifth straight win, a 12-5 victory over the Middletown Indians in Junior League baseball action on Tuesday night at Clear Lake High School in Lakeport.
Dylan Pastor”s bases-loaded double in the top of the second inning scored all three runners to give Middletown a 4-1 lead. The Braves tied it in in the bottom of the third on four straight hits, the first a solo home run to center field off the bat of Corey Dillon.
Dillon, working in relief of starter Ryan Richardson, also picked up the victory when the Braves broke the game open with an eight-run bottom of the fourth, the key blow being Dillon”s second home run of the game, a three-run shot to straightaway center field.
The Braves pounded out 16 hits in all, including the two home runs by Dillon. Kevin Burt went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Braves (9-1), who have won 28 of their last 29 dating back to last season.
Losing pitcher John Hays struck out five in 5 2/3 innings and reached base in all four of his at-bats. He also scored three times.
The Braves were home on Thursday to play the South-shore Mets, who handed the Braves their only loss earlier this season. Results were not available at press time.
