William Virgil Coleman, born Feb. 22, 1919, a native of Colorado, peacefully journeyed into heaven to reunite with his wife of 55 years, Velder, on May 31, 2006. His loving daughter Glenna and granddaughter Sharon were at his side.
William came to Lake County in 1947, where he and his wife made their first home in Nice. In early years, William maintained a bee apiary and supplied many of the major stores, as well as his kids and grandkids, with honey. William retired from the Masonite Corporation and also owned and operated a salvage yard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping at the ocean, spending time with family and friends and in his early years was a boxer.
William was a good father and husband. He loved nature and animals and had a big heart for those in need. William was a member of the Morman Church, humbly serving as an elder.
William is survived by his loving sister, Ida May (Wesley) Worden of Upper Lake; daughter, Francis Marie Hoffman of Lucerne; daughter, Bertha Davis of Kelseyville; son, John W. (Linda) Coleman of Texas; daughter, Glenna (Ronald) Odbert of Nice; son, Robert V. (Pat) Coleman of Oklahoma; daughter, Della Mae Hoffman of Nice; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
All who knew and loved him will miss him greatly.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Velder and his son Earl Gene Roper.?
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 High St., Lakeport, with a Visitation on Monday, June 5 from 4 to 8 p.m.
