ANDERSON — Lakeport driver Derek Thorn finished second on June 3 at Shasta Raceway Park to take over the overall lead in the North State Challenge Series.
His runner-up finish plus the 10 extra points he earned for qualifying second vaulted him into the series points lead, seven points ahead of defending champion Mike Doss.
Competing in NSCS stock cars for a second season, Thorn will compete in a pair of races June 23-24 at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka. The NSCS stock cars also make a stop at Lakeport Speedway on Aug. 12.
