LAKEPORT A former Middletown school district janitor has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for annoying or molesting a minor.
David M. Freddie, 38, of Lower Lake has been under investigation for the past four months by Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) detective Mike Curran.
During the investigation, Curran found reasonable cause to believe that Freddie was having an inappropriate and sexually explicit verbal conversation with a female Middletown High School student, according to a LCSO report.
The alleged conversation was overheard by another school staff member and reportedly took place in February.
LCSO reports that based on witness accounts, with additional independent information, there is a strong indication that additional individuals may also possess information related to this incident, as well as other incidents.
“The victim in this case has shown a great deal of courage in coming forward and talking about the content of the conversation,” Curran said in the report.
“I”m hopeful that other students that may have been contacted by Freddie, either on or off campus, where the conversation was sexual in nature and initiated by Mr. Freddie, will also come forward,” Curran said.
Freddie is being held on a $5,000 bond.
