Alfred LeRoy Mattos, age 82, died June 13, 2006, in Clearlake. He was a resident of Lake County for four months, who formerly had lived in Stanislaus County for 54 years.
Alfred was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Corcoran. He was a Chief Machinist Inspector at Johns Mansville for 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and president of The Machinists Union.
He was a great dancer like Fred Astaire, a roller skate dance instructor, D.J., musician, jeweler, auctioneer and was in the Police Reserves. Alfred served in the Army Air Force.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Susan Ganbari) Mattos of Morton, Penn.; daughter, Charlotte R. (Robert David) Jones of Clearlake; son, William J. (RaDonna) Mattos of Sacramento; daughter, Kathryn M. (Brian) Avila of Reno, Nev.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 14 stepchildren.
A funeral mass will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, June 24 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in River Bank, with reception to follow at Jacob Meyer Park in River Bank.
Inurnment at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
