On June 3, People Services, Inc. had its annual Chicken-que fundraiser. This year marked 32 years for PSI in providing programs and services for developmentally disabled children and adults in Lake County. Fundraising continues to be a needed event to keep these services at quality levels and to be able to develop new innovative services to meet new needs for those with disabilities. This year our goal was to gain funds to provide the matching dollars ($22,400) for a Caltrans grant to acquire two new wheelchair lift-equipped buses and to help to defray the expense of opening our newest program a senior center for developmentally disabled seniors. With the tremendous support from our community we met our goal. We had some very generous donors this year along with a very big surprise from Sutter Lakeside Hospital Community Benefit Fund. These generous donations were again matched by the Priest Family Trust.

Our thanks goes out to the Priest Family Trust for the match; Sutter Lakeside Hospital for a awesome $5,000; Westamerica Bank for a fabulous $1,000; Lakeport Lions Club and Lake Community Bank for $250 each; much appreciation to all the local businesses that gave so generously to our silent auction where we gained another $5,000 in bids; a big thank you to all the volunteers that helped in many ways from the Lakeport Rotary Club; our entertainment crew, which was outstanding, Jim Williams, Sarah Ticheva and Jill Shaul, the Freys, Phil Mathewson and Friends; our landscaping/janitorial customers that sent in over $2,000 in funds to help pay for the food items to make the barbecue so successful and all the grocery stores that donated so many food items; Dennis Rollins for being our master of ceremonies; and all the consumers, families and friends; and most of all the staff of People Services, Inc., because without their personal support this event just wouldn”t happen.

There are so many people to thank with an event that is so big and successful. We cannot name you all personally, but you can bet we know who you are and we are so thankful to have you on our team. Thanks goes out to the communities of Lake County.
