How do you thank so many people who make an event successful? Our brisket barbecue and dance held on June 3 was the result of countless hours of volunteer time, donations by local businesses, creative flair at making baskets to auction and the cooking talent of several wonderful people. My biggest concern is that I leave someone out who helped us, so if I make that mistake, please forgive me.

Thanks to the following:

The board members of the Middletown Senior Center (all of whom made desserts): Milt Andreasen, Twila Brammeier, George Clements, Sandy Harris, Janet Mondragon, Mary Penney, Earl Rayls and Bobbie Whitley; the cooks (the food was incredible): Bob and Bobbie Whitley, Doug and Sandy Harris, Mary Penney, Ken Nishikawa, Rich Doyle and Joe D”Amaro; decorations: Marjean Evans; “Dine Around Middletown” Raffle coordinators Sandy Harris and Bobbie Whitley; supersalesmen, Betty Winfrey and Jim Gibbs. Thanks to the businesses that donated certificates: B”s Sweet Shoppe, Beulah”s Kitchen, Boar”s Breath, Brian”s Pizza, Brick Oven Pizza, Greenview Restaurant, Hardester”s Market, Havy”s Mexican Restaurant, Mugshots Espresso, Rob Roy Golf Club, Twin Pines Casino, Grape Vine Cafe, Middletown Pizza, Crave Coffee House, Gracias Eatery, La Corona Market, Little Cowpoke Caffe, Loch Lomond Roadhouse, Mountain Pass Coffee, Mt St. Helena Brewery, Perry”s Deli, and Store 24.

Baskets and items donated for the raffle were by: George Clements, Debbie Bissionnette, Century 21 House of Realty, Roy and Jacque Spiker, Phyllis Kelsey, Ruthie Brower, Bobbie Whitley, Marsha Brennen, Lorene Switzer, Bob Hare, Rilla and Harry Krall, Janet Mondragon, Virginia Dilberto, Middletown Florist, Lakeport Cinema, 5 Star Towing and Hidden Valley Food Mart; thanks for cash donations from Sanderson Ford, Ed B Realty and Mr. & Mrs. Herb Bladel and the countless volunteers who did everything from setting up and selling tickets to serving food and cleaning up.

I also want to thank everyone who bought tickets for the raffles, came to the dinner and supported the Senior Center”s efforts to build a new building.

Greg Evans, chair
