* The annual Redbud Parade takes place Saturday, July 1 on Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Staging is at 10 a.m. in Redbud Park. Parade begins at 11 a.m. and follows Lakeshore Drive to Austin Park, where a variety of family fun activities take place afterward including the sixth annual Show ”n” Shine Car Show, a carnival, food, vendors, music, the 39th annual International Worm Races and fireworks at dusk.

* Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2337 will serve breakfast, 9 a.m. to noon, Sunday, July 2 at the Post Hall, 3980 Veterans Lane in Clearlake. Donation: $5.

* Clearlake Elks Lodge 2299 will hold its monthly youth activity from 9 a.m. until noon, Sunday, July 2 at the Elks Lodge, located at Old Highway 53 and Crawford Avenue. The menu will consist of French toast, eggs any style, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage or bacon, toast, hash browns, juice and coffee for only $5 for adults and $2.50 for 12 and younger. This breakfast is open to the public and all proceeds go to help our youth around the lake.

* The Eastlake Landfill, Lakeport Transfer Station and the Lake County Public Services Department will be closed Tuesday, July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday. All three facilities will reopen Wednesday, July 5.

* Clear Lake Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) writes spay/neuter vouchers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at its local thrift shop, 14106 Olympic Drive in Clearlake. Recipients are limited to one cat voucher per month. Please show proof of low income by bringing an EBT card, Notice of Action, Medicare card, Social Security document, unemployment check stubs, proof of disability or current check stubs and picture identification.

* The Lake County Public Services Department”s HazMobile will accept household hazardous waste, Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Lake County Fire Protection District”s Olympic Drive fire station in Clearlake. Households can bring up to 15 gallons of toxic items free of charge based on the size of the container.
