Berta McClung, age 85, passed away June 29, 2006, at Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa. She was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Beaver, Oklahoma. Formerly of Paradise, Calif., she lived in Lake County for four years.
Mother danced as though no one was watching, loved as though she had never been hurt, worked as though she never needed the money. Mother was timeless; she never grew old. She lived in Lower Lake in the 80s with her husband James McClung until his passing, then moved to Paradise where she wrote Berta”s Banter for the Paradise Post.
She was a member of the Baptist church and joined a Ladies Pool Club. She loved to play pool and won many tournaments in Paradise.
She moved to Kelseyville in 2003 and lived at the Live Oak Mobile Home Park with her cat Patty Cakes. She wanted to be closer to her daughter Linda. She joined the choir at the Presbyterian Church in Kelseyville and made many friends. She joined the Lakeport Senior Center and loved it. She would call her daughter Linda about all of the wonderful, fun things they did. She was always happy and she loved to crochet.
She passed away after a short illness with pneumonia. She never suffered. She will bring a lot of laughter and fun in heaven.
Goodbye, Mother, we will miss you.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McClung of Lower Lake; and her daughter, Patty Montaque of Los Angeles. She leaves her daughter, Linda Ehling (Lee) of Kelseyville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Donations may be made to a charity of one”s choice.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Clear Lake Memorial Chapel in Lower Lake.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Clear Lake Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Lower Lake Cemetery in Lower Lake.
Arrangements entrusted to Jones & Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel.
