LAKEPORT — Wes Walker of Clearlake has what T.C. Collins wants, the Gladiator Challenge Super Heavyweight championship belt.
Walker doesn”t plan to give it up.
At least that”s the gameplan, according to Larry Cummins, who trains Walker at Cummins Martial Arts in Clearlake. “It”s going to be a war.”
Walker and Collins square off Saturday when Gladiator Challenge “Deep Impact” visits Konocti Vista Resort in Lakeport. Fifteen cage fights are on the card and the Walker-Collins match is among the headliners.
Walker, who is undefeated in cage fighting, won his title belt on April 8 against Matt Nelson with a second-round stoppage of the former champion.
Collins, who trains out of Dave Terrell”s NorCal Fighting Alliance, is also undefeated. Neither fighter has ever had to go the distance.
“He”s in good shape, working hard,” Cummins said of Walker, who is one of two Cummins-trained fighters competing on Saturday. The other is Clay Emerson, a black belt, who is making his cage fighting debut in the 155-pound class.
“He”s been with me for 16 years,” Cummins said. “He”s a cowboy.”
The Cummins Martial Arts fighters are sponsored by Strohmeyers Plumbing, B&B Lounge, S.J. Schwartz Construction, Dr. Keith Long, DDS, Humberto”s Roofing, Konoctees Screen Printing, the Underwood family, Better Health Chiropractic and Gil Schoux Plumbing.
