* Clear Lake Gleaners, Inc. (Food Bank of Lake County) will hold its monthly USDA food giveaway, Wednesday, July 5. Sites are located at the Clearlake American Legion and the Clearlake Elks Lodge as well as in Clearlake Oaks, Middletown, Kelseyville, Finley, Lakeport, Upper Lake and Lucerne. * Clear Lake Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) writes spay/neuter vouchers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at its local thrift shop, 14106 Olympic Drive in Clearlake. Recipients are limited to one cat voucher per month. Please show proof of low income by bringing an EBT card, Notice of Action, Medicare card, Social Security document, unemployment check stubs, proof of disability or current check stubs and picture identification.

* The Better Breathers Club will meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at the Family Health Center conference room, 15250 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Entrance is at the lower level of the building. The topic of discussion will be “Hungry or Thirsty?” Nancy Perrin, manager of Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Adventist Health Redbud Hospital, will help differentiate between hunger and thirst, plus provide information on healthy eating while living with breathlessness and lung disease.

Meetings are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about chronic lung disease or breathing disorders. Caregivers are also welcome.

* The Lake County Public Services Department”s HazMobile will accept household hazardous waste, Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Lake County Fire Protection District”s Olympic Drive fire station in Clearlake. Households can bring up to 15 gallons of toxic items free of charge based on the size of the container.
