WILLITS — Dustin Thaxton drove in nine runs with a pair of bases-loaded triples and two doubles on Sunday to propel the Westshore Little League 10-11 All-Stars to a wild 18-10 win over South Ukiah in an elimination game on Sunday in Willits.
Westshore will play again today against El Molino at 5:30 p.m.
Thaxton”s big day at the plate help offset an equally big day by a South Ukiah player who slammed three three-run homers. Thaxton also stole home during Westshore”s victory.
The winning pitcher was Oren Ruffcorn.
In action on Saturday, Westshore beat Fort Bragg 7-6 on a Tyler Davis RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning that snapped a 6-6 tie. Tyler Gamber scored all the way from first base on Davis” game-winning hit.
Westshore scored its first six runs in the second inning, the big blow being a Thaxton grand slam.
Michael McManus, the second Westshore pitcher, earned the victory with three innings of solid relief.
