PETALUMA — Petaluma Valley, host of this year”s District 35 Little League All-Star Tournament in the 11-12 division, gave the home fans something to cheer about on Thursday in a 13-2 win over Kelseyville in a first-round game at Petaluma.
Petaluma Valley slugged four home runs, three of them by the same player. One of the Petaluma home runs was a grand slam.
Kelseyville stayed close through five innings and trailed only 5-0 against a Petaluma Valley team that entered play having 10-runned all of its opponents.
Highlights for Kelseyville included two hits apiece from Mason Smith, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Max Huff, who went 2-for-2. Devon Call went 1-for-2.
Kelseyville plays Mark West on Saturday at 11 a.m. in an elimination game. Both teams have one loss in the double-elimination tournament.
