I was disturbed that my elected Lake County Supervisor, Rob Brown, is opposed, as indicated by his nay vote, to shore up the dilapidated Kelseyville Water District.
As a believer that government should provide those services that cannot be provided by the private sector, I can only agree that Mr. Brown would prefer the only options:
1) The State of California take over the district per Public Utility Commission Code. I am sure that we would be happy for a Hollywood movie star to appoint our administrator; that is, if he even knows where Lake County is geographically in our state. I am sure the state would contract efficiently to fix the problem more prudently than our locals.
2) The district could be sold to a public entity, a for-profit group, that surely would not flinch from making a profit, fixing the problems and raising rates to again make a profit. Again, I am sure better than our locals.
As a conservative, but a realist, I realize the old maxim of government, crap goes downhill.
I can only believe that Rob Brown believes otherwise.
