MIDDLETOWN — Firefighters worked through the night Monday trying to contain a 220-acre blaze that continued to burn south of Middletown.

The fire, which broke out Monday afternoon, initially caused emergency officials to close roads, but by 10 p.m. Monday the roads were once again open, reported Cathy Casheros of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF).

The fire”s status at 10 p.m. was 15-percent contained, as the fire continued burning in a northerly direction away from Middletown in the eastern hills, Casheros said. Conditions included light winds, she added.

There were no evacuations as of Monday evening, Casheros reported, but there were losses, including one mobile home, three sheds and one travel trailer, all of which had burned.

Casheros said 200 CDF personnel were involved in fighting the fire, along with 20 engines, one air attack unit, four air tankers, two helicopters, five dozers and six hand crews.

More CDF reports on the incident will follow, Casheros said.
