* The Better Breathers Club will meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at the Family Health Center conference room, 15250 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Entrance is at the lower level of the building. The topic of discussion will be “Hungry or Thirsty?” Nancy Perrin, manager of Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Adventist Health Redbud Hospital, will help differentiate between hunger and thirst, plus provide information on healthy eating while living with breathlessness and lung disease.

Meetings are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about chronic lung disease or breathing disorders. Caregivers are also welcome.

* The Thursday morning breakfast group meets at 7 a.m. Thursday, July 20 at the Main Street Caf?, 14084 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Clearlake Administrator Kathy Kivley will discuss the status of the city and the challenges facing it. The July program chairperson is Dave James.

* The “CLAWS Gone Wild Crew” is back and ready to make a splash, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22 at Four Corners Builders Supply in Clearlake. Get your car washed and help support the Clear Lake Animal Welfare Society. Four Corners will also be donating 10 percent of its daily profits for July 22 to the CLAWS organization.

* Sons of Italy will be hosting a luau dinner and dance on Saturday, July 22 at the lodge, 2817 Highway 20 in Nice. No host bar at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by “Shot Gun Willie” with “Scotty on the Drums” from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Donation: $13 advance tickets; $15 at the door; $8 for dancing only. Sunday, July 23

* The Lake County Historical Society”s annual picnic for members and guests will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23 at the Binkley Ranch/Mahnke Museum. Take State Route 29 to Bottle Rock Road. Turn right immediately past Beaver Creek Campground onto Glenbrook Road. Turn left on Binkley Road and follow to ranch. Carpooling is recommended as parking is limited. Members to bring a salad or desert to share, utensils, plates and a beverage of your choice.

* The Lake County Board of Supervisors meets at 9 a.m. every Tuesday except for the fifth Tuesday in a month in Supervisors” Chambers at the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes Street in Lakeport. Meetings are broadcast live on PEG Channel TV8 and rebroadcast the following Sunday.
