LAKE SHASTA — The active underwater search in Lake Shasta for a young Kelseyville woman has been unsuccessful, authorities say, although efforts are still under way to locate her body.
The Shasta County Sheriff”s Office reported Friday that the underwater search for Ashlee Rodrigues, 22, was suspended as of Wednesday and replaced with surface searches on Thursday.
Last Friday, Rodrigues reportedly fell off the bow of a ski boat and disappeared into the water of Lake Shasta.
The underwater search for Rodrigues has used a remotely operated vessel and a sonar system.
The ski boat in which Rodrigues was traveling has been taken into evidence, which is standard operating procedure anytime a major accident involving a fatality or an injury occurs, according to the SCSO.
On Monday they will again bring in the cadaver search dogs provided through the Office of Emergency Services, but will not resume the underwater search.
They are waiting for the body to surface at this point, according to Sgt. Mark Lillibridge, who also stated that none of the boat occupants were wearing life vests at the time the accident occurred.
The SCSO”s official report will be completed today and released to the District Attorney”s office on Monday or Tuesday of next week, according to Lillibridge.
