COBB — Blue skies and fabulous music delighted the crowd at the third annual Cobb Mt. Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday, July 15. The all day event was held at Camp Jellystone park in Cobb and vendors selling everything from barbecued ribs and beer to handmade arts and crafts surrounded a shaded tent area that even supplied a cool mist to help you beat the heat.

The entertainment was superb starting with the first act, Twice as Good, a local Lake County group with a high energy Boogie style.

Next was Andre Williams, an R & B vocalist that most people are familiar with through his collaboration with MC Hammer as lead vocalist. Williams gave 120 percent when asked to play longer to cover for the next act that was late arriving.

Winner of the 2005 guitar player of the year award, Alvon & his Allstars entertained the crowd with some outstanding music and his recognizable voice from his years with the Coasters.

The headliner act was Sugar Pie DeSanto, who delighted the crowd with her performance as not only an outsanding blues vocalist but and uproarious comedienne and dancer. The 70-year-old Sugar Pie was all over the stage and even jumped off and then back onto the stage. The final act was a Lake County favorite, Bill Noteman and the Rockets, who rocked the crowd until dark. This writer is anxiously awaiting next year”s event.
