UPDATED:

Plans have been finalized for the July Poetry and Music Interlude. The gathering will be on Sunday, July 30 at the home of John and Eugenie Steinman, 7257 Morton Street in Nice. Their home is large and air conditioned, and hungers to be filled by an expansive and vibrant crowd of poets, musicians and supporters of the finer arts. If the weather decides to be friendly the gathering can easily spill into the wooded area surrounding the home.

July will feature a poetry and music open mic. The Steinmans have a “great and wonderful piano” and any musicians who feel comfortable may take a turn at tickling the ivories. Both Carolyn Hawley and Scotty McNeil can be expected to entertain those who attend.

McNeil will be acting as MC for the afternoon. Please get there by 3 p.m. to sign up to read or play. Acoustic musicians of all types are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Steinmans.

Directions to the home: Take State Route 20 to one half-mile south of the juncture of State Route 20 and the Nice/Lucerne Cutoff. Take Butte Street into the hills. There will be signs and possibly balloons or streamers to mark the way. Butte Street will make several turns as it continues to climb into the hills. The road will crest at a stop sign. After stopping, please continue on straight. Veer to the right and you will see a brown house (7257 Morton Street) on the left and a steep drive. Feel free to park and walk, or you may use the driveway to park. For questions contact John or Eugenie at 274-8995 or Eugst@pacific.net

The June interlude featured several of Lake County”s finest poets reading for more than two hours in a Round Robin format. A fine time was had by all who attended.
