LAKEPORT — Kids big and small should get a kick out of the auto racing program Saturday night at the Lakeport Speedway.

Along with the annual kids rids, where kids get to ride in a real racing car prior to the start of the night”s racing program, the older kids in the crowd will be treated to a bit of racing history as the Nostalgic Race Car Group makes a special appearance. This “Blast from the Past” race car rolling museum will feature a special treat this time around, the No. 10 Bill France 1935 Ford 3 Window Coupe, which is touring racetracks across the western United States.

The 1935 Ford Coupe is an exact replica of the car driven in the first stock car beach race in 1936 at Daytona Beach in Florida. France placed fifth and went on to become a founding father of NASCAR. The No. 10 car has been on display the last three years at Daytona International Speedway and participated in the coast-to-coast Great Race of 2004 from Jacksonville, Fla., to Monterey, and the 2005 race from Washington D.C. to Seattle.

When it appears at Lakeport on Saturday night, the No. 10 car will be driven by Bill Baxter of Willits. He”ll join other Nostalgia Race Car Group drivers, including Mike McCann of Oregon — his No. 21 super modified, Dan Johnson, Danny Feifer and special guest Paul Thomas of KXBX.

All of the nostalgia race cars will be on display on the grass behind the main grandstands at approximately 4 p.m.

Saturday”s racing card features the Northern Cal-ifornia Racing Association modifieds, mini-stocks, street stocks, bombers and the L.A. Cruisers.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.
