“Chinatown,” the 1974 award-winning story of a Los Angeles water grab, will be screened at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, the second in the Lucerne Community Water Organization”s August series about water and the west.

Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway star; Roman Polanski directed. The Oscar-winning script is by Robert Towne.

Screenings are at the air-conditioned community room of Lucerne”s First Lutheran Church, Country Club Drive at Tenth Avenue. Admission is by donation and guests are invited to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

LCWO is a non-profit community association formed to intervene in water rate cases with the California Public Utilities Commission and to educate the public on water issues. For more information, call Janice Smith, secretary, 274-9456.
