LAKEPORT — The nomination period for the two open Lakeport City Council seats has been extended to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, due to the fact that no incumbent filed for office by the deadline of Aug. 11.
The general election will be held on Nov. 7.
The two incumbents who indicated they would not be running for re-election are Bill Knoll and Ted Mandrones, said City Clerk Janel Chapman.
The only person to file papers so far is Jay Swanson, Chapman reported, a retired member of the military who works part-time at the Lakeport Police Department as a special events coordinator.
If anyone is interested in running for one of the open seats, they should contact Chapman at 263-5615, Ext. 12, before the Wednesday deadline.
