Three candidates are running in the Consolidated General Municipal Election for two terms on the Clearlake City Council.
Deputy City Clerk Melissa Swanson reported this week that Clearlake residents Chuck Leonard, Aqeela El Amin Bakheit and Roy Simons have filed papers for the Tuesday, Nov. 7 election.
There are two four-year terms on the city council that come up for election in November; neither of the two incumbents, Bob Malley nor Peggy Smith, filed for the Nov. 7 election.
Filing deadline was Wednesday, Aug. 16 for the offices of Clearlake City Council member, Clearlake City Clerk and Clearlake City Treasurer. No candidates have filed for the offices of clerk or treasurer and as prescribed by California law, an appointment may be made in order to fill these offices.
All terms will expire in December 2010.
