MIDDLETOWN — Children and parents around the county will have a pleasant surprise in store the next time they visit one of the county”s four parks.
Public Services Director Kim Clymire reported this week that the county is in the process of replacing the existing playground systems at the four parks with new equipment.
The county Board of Supervisors voted at its May 2 meeting to award a bid for $134,000 to All About Play for the four playground systems, including installation.
The funding for this project is provided by a State of California Park Bond known as Proposition 40.
Parks getting the equipment are Lakeside County Park, 1985 Park Drive; Kelseyville Community County Park, 3720 State St.; Lower Lake County Park, 16375 Second St.; and Middletown Pool and Tennis County Park, 20962 Big Canyon Road.
County park staff are finishing the installation by applying the safety ground cover and wood fencing around the perimeter of the equipment for an additional cost of approximately $12,000, also funded by the grant.
The equipment is tentatively scheduled to be open to the public by the end of the month.
