LAKEPORT — The final points race for the Northern California Racing Association will be held Saturday night at the Lakeport Speedway, where champions in four divisions modifieds, mini-stocks, street stocks and bombers will be crowned.

The L.A. Cruiser division also will be competing, but their points season extends through the final boat race on Sept. 16.

Kelseyville”s Terry McIntire leads the way in the modified points chase for the third year in a row. Runner-up David Furia trails McIntire by only 63 points and Bob Strauss is third, 17 points behind Furia. Any one of these contenders could come out on top at the end of Saturday”s action as a driver can accumulate up to 105 points in one night”s racing.

Both Chris Salmina in the street stock class and Rich Schramm Jr. in the mini-stock ranks have chalked up enough points to earn the championship in their respective divisions, however, the bomber title is still up for grabs. George Abella leads Jimmy Sorrels by only 45 points and Jon Waner is third, 88 points behind Waner.

Rookie of the Year titles also will be determined Saturday. Currently Davey Coyne is ahead in the chase in the mini-stock division, while Jonathon Reynolds leads the way in the modified division. It”s the bomber class that will be close Ron Portlock, Mike Bray and Richard Bray are all eligible for the title.

Gates open for Saturday night”s action at 5 p.m. General admission is $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, children ages 6-11 years pay only $4, and kids 5 and younger get in free. A special family pass is available for $25 and admits two adults and three children (ages 6-11).
