UPDATED:

I have been reading most of the update on the Board of Supervisors” strategy, plotting and planning of the Lucerne “promenade,” or what Webster”s Dictionary says is a common term for a “boardwalk” which is planking along a beach.

But, there is no beach, there isn”t even a way to build a pier without encroachment from the water onto other peoples” property.

The county has already bought up several pieces of lakefront property, which has cost the taxpayers at least $3 to $4 million, and are still unable to form a “promenade/boardwalk.” The park on Second has cost a small fortune, all the niceties good tax dollars could buy, even nice street lights (at the park only) which really stands out because there”s no more like them in all of Lucerne, only in downtown Lakeport.

The county bought up four or five lots, only two of them side by side, then all the way through Lucerne are private properties, a dentist, I believe a big bed and breakfast, our good ol” “water company,” the old Peppers that”s turning into an eyesore, apartments and then the Lucerne Community Club House.

Why in the world would anyone want to buy the clubhouse and build a nice fancy motel, of all the dumb things. It”s more than nice that in return they will help the senior center.

But, that goes back to the water issue. The people of Lucerne got no help from the board until eight months later and they knew the senior center needs help. Isn”t it amazing the generosity that pours out when someone else wants something?

But, as I was saying about the clubhouse, a beautiful motel right slammed up against two motels that are drug rehab housing. I know, let the supervisors be the very first guests (free of course) then they will be very knowledgeable as to what the people deal with everyday. But where the boat ramp is needs upgrading and they upgrade the other end of town. If they wants tourists don”t they think a clean restroom is in order there, not on the other end of town?

And a boardwalk up Eighth Avenue and back down Ninth? Nice, but looking at a drainage ditch? Have they checked out the view?
