Walter Leroy Boynton, a native of Sayre, Okla., was born March 3, 1921 and died Aug. 31, 2006, here in Lakeport, at the age of 85.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Boynton of Upper Lake; daughters, Lorna (Bob) Smith of Roseville, Mich. and Leslie August of Upper Lake; grandchildren, Dustin (Angela) Henry, Kyle Henry, Zack (Jessica) August and Jennifer (Aaron) Kiewicz; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Derek Pritchard, and Adrienne and Lukas Henry; brothers, Tom (Pat) Boynton of Cool, Calif. and Ed (Geri) Boynton of San Ramon; sisters, Mary Hankins of San Ramon, Arlene Hankins of Hayward, Linda Hudgeons of Moraga and Jean Gault of Montana; and many other relatives.

Walter served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Previously of Castro Valley, he moved to Upper Lake in 1972.

He was a member of the Clearlake Horseman”s Association. He loved to work on leather, loved to hunt and fish and spend time with the family.
