BLUE LAKES — A Petaluma man died Friday evening when his motorcycle collided head-on with another vehicle along Highway 20.
The California Highway Patrol”s Clear Lake area office reported Monday that 64-year-old Kenneth Lua was riding his 2003 Harley Davidson eastbound along Highway 20 at 5:40 p.m. Sept. 1.
Lua was traveling between 45 and 50 mph when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway.
CHP reported Lua crossed the double-yellow lines and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Astro van traveling westbound at 45 mph driven by Susan Sheldon, 46, of Redway.
Lua was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheldon suffered minor cuts to her left and and wrist. Fifteen-year-old Nicole Sheldon, one of Susan Sheldon”s six passengers, had an abrasion on her right wrist.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
