Local musicians will be spotlighted along with their Bay Area counterparts at the upcoming Old Time Bluegrass Festival planned for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park near Lower Lake.
Pat Ickes is one of Lake County”s premier bluegrass banjo players and will be joined by family and friends. Ickes has performed with the Copper Canyon Band at many of California”s bluegrass festivals.
Another local favorite is Andi Skelton and the Konocti Fiddlers. Fiddle music is a mainstay of the bluegrass sounds.
There will be two venues at the festival, providing main stage and small stage events. There will be non-stop music from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and for those interested, jam sessions after the event at Funtime R.V. and Campground.
Other local musicians adding to the performers will be Don Coffin and Gus Garelick. Garelick is also a fiddler and Coffin plays guitar, having played with the band Hot Frittatas for more than 30 years.
Along with music, there will be lots of food, craft booths, and beer and wine at this first time bluegrass festival in Lake County. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the Internet at www.andersonmarsh.org or by mail by sending your check or money order to PO Box 672, Lower Lake, CA 95457.
