I have always been one to enjoy reading the “Readers” Views”, especially during election times. I suppose there is just something about the valid, yet sarcastic, points that people make toward both each other and recent issues that makes me take notice.

Lately, however, I have been disappointed to see many of the letters in “Readers” Views” harbor a hidden agenda.

For example, Victoria Brandon recently wrote a letter that appeared to be from a concerned Spring Valley citizen, bringing attention to the water moratorium that has been placed on the area and the lack of sympathy that board members were showing. As the letter continued, however, I noticed it was sounding less like a general complaint, and more like a personal attack & on Supervisor Gary Lewis.

Now why would that be? Turns out, she is chair of the Sierra Club Lake Group, a key supporter of Supervisor Candidate Denise Rushing. Her letter falsely portrayed Lewis as a discourteous, unsympathetic child, obviously characteristics no one wants in a supervisor. How convenient it was for her to include such verbiage in her “general complaint” as this crucial election draws closer.

Using the “Reader”s Views” as free publicity for one”s candidate is, in my opinion, truly discourteous, unsympathetic and childish. Let”s save this wonderful section of the newspaper for complaints about important issues, not personal drama that reminds me too much of high school.
