VALLEJO — Off to one of its best starts ever at 12-0, the Kelseyville High School varsity volleyball team claimed its second tournament title in as many weeks on Saturday, winning all five of its matches at the Mare Island Tournament in Vallejo.

Behind 27 kills and 13 aces from Katie King, 14 kills and 12 aces from Jamie Stockman, 15 kills, seven ace and 23 digs from Jill Bailey, and 15 kills, seven blocks and 22 digs from Lauren Nixon, the Knights rolled through the tournament without losing a game.

Kelseyville beat Branson (Ross) 25-13, 25-21 and Galileo (San Francisco) 25-23, 25-16 in pool play, then won two single-elimination matches in the playoff round, beating Ukiah 25-15, 25-19 and Petaluma 25-14, 25-20, to reach the finals against Napa.

In the championship match, Kelseyville rolled past Napa 25-9, 25-16.

While there was no All-Tournament team, Kelsey-ville coach Larry Bresso said Bailey, the team”s senior setter, would have been the pick had there been an MVP award given.

“I didn”t keep track but she probably had around 75 assists (for the tournament),” Bresso said. “She did an outstanding job distributing the ball.”
