Southshore Adult Coed Softball League (SACSL) recently opened the 2006 season in Clearlake. A total of six teams are vying for this year”s title. Sponsors include Holistic Solutions, Griffin”s Furniture, Ray”s Food Place, Hammes Roofing, Smalley Construction and Park View Market.

The season opened with Smalley Construction going head-to-head with Park View Market on Thursday, Sept. 7 at Redbud Ballpark. Smalley Construction posted a 25-19 win over Park View Market with pitcher Sarah Felder taking the win from the mound. Felder had three strike outs and 11 walks. Park View Market”s Steve Barrios had three strike outs and 21 walks.

Hammes Roofing posted a 15-14 win over Ray”s Food Place in the afternoon game played on Sunday, Sept. 10. Hammes Roofing”s Kevin Kealey had two strike outs and a pair of walks from the mound while Ray”s Food Place”s Shawn Shearer struck out one and walked nine.

In Sunday”s evening game, Griffin”s Furniture was victorious over Holistic Solutions, posting a 22-19 win. Both teams were hot on the bat with a total of 58 hits reported.

Hammes Roofing beat Ray”s Food Place again on Tuesday, Sept. 12, recording a 16-8 victory.

On Thursday, Sept. 14 Smalley Construction gained its first win of the season with an 18-16 victory over Griffin”s Furniture while Ray”s Food Place picked up its first win on Sunday, Sept. 17 with a 9-8 victory over Park View Market.

In the evening game on Sept. 17, Griffin”s Furniture beat Holistic Solutions for the second time, posting a 21-10 victory.

Park View Market and Smalley Construction were scheduled to compete again on Tuesday, Sept. 19. SACSL action continues throughout the week with games scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Sunday at Redbud Ballpark.
