The summer”s final screenings of the Coyote Film Festival, Friday, Sept. 22, and Saturday, Sept. 23, at Langtry Estate and Vineyards, will include an appearance by guest of honor Hobart Brown, creator of kinetic sculpture races that are held around the U.S.
A short film set directed by Christian Hellmers, “Hobart”s World” and “Hobart and the Race of the Kinetinauts,” will introduce viewers to the local and national folks who participate in kinetic sculpture races. Brown”s madcap inspiration has spawned amazing sculptures that race, float and compete. Kinetic sculptures will be on display in the Langtry Estate and Vineyards parking lot — including the winning sculpture from the 2005 Humboldt County competition, which was won by racers on Cobb Mountain.
This month”s films also include:
* “Brighter Than The Sun,” an eight-minute animated feature by Gia Kereselidze. We are born prisoners. The door to freedom exists, but there is only one way to find it.
* “Nights Like These” by Gadi Harel (15-minute short). Adam leads a fairly dull existence and his shadow is fed up with it. Adam”s shadow leaves him for more excitement and more than the shadow bargained for.
Langtry Estate and Vineyards is located 21000 Butts Canyon Road in Middletown. Its tasting room will be open during the festival. The Coyote Film Festival is presented outdoors on the lawn. For further information, visit www.EcoArtsofLakeCounty.org.
