* Due to a lack of veterinary care, Clear Lake Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) will cease writing spay/neuter vouchers until Wednesday, Dec. 6. CLAWS would normally write vouchers on the first and Wednesday of each month at its thrift shop in Clearlake; the organization is presently looking for traveling vet assistance.
* Lake County Tribal Health”s “Reach Out” program sponsors a series of healthy cooking classes that are taught by gourmet chef Kai Bravo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Rebekah Lodge in Lower Lake. To register, call Reyna Lopez at 263-8382, ext. 135. To offset program costs, Lake County Tribal Health encourages a $10 donation. Dinner is included. * The Better Breathers Club will meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 in the CardioPulmonary Care Center conference room, 15250 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Entrance is at the lower level of the building.
Topic of dicussion will be “Questions and Answers About Chronic Lung Disease.” A video will be shown on “Handling Flare-ups and Energy Conservation Skills.” Meetings, which are sponsored by the American Lung Association, are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about chronic lung disease or breathing disorders. Caregivers are also welcome.
