KELSEYVILLE — A Lakeport man avoided injury after the fire truck he was test driving flipped over.
The California Highway Patrol reported Wednesday that William Robison, 31, of Lakeport was test driving a Kelseyville Fire Department water tender truck after working on the engine brake.
CHP Officer Kevin Domby reported that Robison was driving the truck along Big Valley Road just south of Renfro Drive at approximately 35 mph when he decided to test the brake prior to a curve.
Robison, Domby reported, allowed the truck”s right-side tires to contact the gravel shoulder, which caused him to lose control of the truck.
The vehicle, which Domby said was carrying approximately 1,600 gallons of water, rolled over onto its top.
Robison was uninjured, but the truck sustained major damage, Domby said. One-way traffic was established shortly after the collision.
