UPDATED:

For many years I have desired to sing my original Kelseyville songs, especially “The Bad Bad Woman of Kelseyville,” at the Kelseyville Pear Festival.

This year I was told I could sing it at the Presbyterian Church small stage between 12:30 and 1 p.m. when the big stage was not being used. However, on Saturday, Sept. 23, I was told I could not use my small sound system because it might interfere with the main stage activities.

I am asking the Pear Festival Committee to allow me to sing the songs on the main stage, since there is time between 12:30 and 1 p.m., or to bring my small system to use if I need it for the small stage. I am advertising that I will be performing that song and others, including a Kelseyville pear packing song written during the KP days, and the bluegrass tune “Kelsey Creek.”

I opened for the Kelseyville Street Dance Aug. 24, and my feature about the Prather Brothers Band helped bring people to the event. I have a DVD of my performance Aug. 24 if you wish to see it.

A Planning Commissioner for the city of Clearlake said the song “Bad Bad Woman of Kelseyville” would put Kelseyville on the map, and he purchased a tape of the song. Others also support me in this request.

I have called the Pear Festival phone number at least four times with this request, but I have not received a call back.

Are you a committee open to new ideas and suggestions? Are you following the spirit of a friendly country town? Are you open to feedback and alternative ideas? I submitted my CD for feedback years ago, and I never heard back from any of you. Others hear the song and buy the CD.

There is still time to solve this dilemma.

I love Kelseyville, too.
