Upper Lake coach Sandy Coatney said the Cougars gave a good account of themselves and weren”t intimidated by the Knights, the defending NCL I North champions.

“Everybody knows Kelseyville”s the big dog,” Coatney said. “But when I was talking to my girls after the match I asked them if they wanted to play these guys again and they did … they wanted to play right now,” Coatney said. “They”re not afraid of Kelseyville.”

Caity Falge”s 16 digs, five kills and five blocks led the Cougars. Sierra Higgins added eight assists and Hannah Johnson had four kills and six blocks.

Upper Lake won the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-22 behind five kills from Jackie Lovrin and 10 assists from Courtney Havrilla.
